14 Feb Our epic new challenge: Waves, Mud and Mountains!
We love a challenge. And have we got an epic one for you this spring!
Waves Mud and Mountains is our first ever race event and it will be taking place on Sunday 26 March 2017, right here in the heart of beautiful North Wales.
Our challenging circuit will pit you against the legendary natural elements of the majestic Conwy Valley – its waves, mud and mountains! Distance-wise, it’s short but intense, but this little number is going to test your stamina, agility and mental strength to the max.
A short sprint from the start line will take you to your first challenge: a ladder climb and 4-metre drop down onto our infamous blob. A short swim across the pool (doggie paddle is fine) and it’s agility-test time as you take on our Wipeout-style Crash & Splash obstacle course.
Blimey. Unless you know how to walk on water, you’re going to be running through our wave – and that means pushing against the power of 6 million gallons of watery opposition for over 300 metres in order to get to the other side of our lagoon.
This is where things get messy and downright dirty. Once you’ve made it across our lagoon it’s another short sprint to our muddy battlefield. You’ll be taking on a whole lot of mud and a variety of creative obstacles including a slip & slide and log run.
Brace yourself. This is where you’re going to need a bit of grit to get you over the finish line. You’ll end the race with a run up the notoriously steep Dolgarrog Water Pipe incline. Just don’t look up! But rest assured you’ll enjoy looking down (once you’re at the top). What a triumph!
After you’ve made it to the finish line, relax. We’ll bus you back to Surf Snowdonia for some post-race R&R in our surf-side bar. There will be a complimentary beer or soft drink for every competitor, with post-race celebrations and DJ into the evening.
