23 Jan Hurray! Waves, Mud and Mountains is back for 2018!
Exciting news! Our Waves, Mud and Mountains obstacle run is back for its second year! And even more excitingly, it’s going to be even longer, harder and muddier than before! It will take place on the first day of our 2018 surf season, Saturday 24 March 2018.
Close to 500 competitors turned out to take on our mud run challenge in 2017, and we’ve increased the capacity and the level of this year’s course after listening to feedback from those of you who took part last year.
It will be challenging – we’ve increased the distance from 5k to 10k – but it will still be a lot of fun. One of the best things about Waves, Mud and Mountains last year was the level of positivity and camaraderie amongst our competitors and spectators – it was a great day for everybody who was part of it.
Competitors taking part in this year’s event can expect to find themselves pitted against the elements, including over-water agility tests, a mud-based assault course, ice bath and barrel carry.
They will also take on the might of Europe’s biggest wave pool – by running through our powerful man-made waves. It’s the equivalent of pushing against a colossal 6 million gallons of water over a distance of 300 metres.
Waves, Mud and Mountains will conclude with a run up the notoriously steep Dolgarrog Water Pipe incline in a part of the course we’re calling the ‘stairway to hell’ (for what will become obvious reasons). Competitors will enjoy sweeping views of the Conwy Valley as they make their descent back to the finish line back at our site.
Entry is now open at surfsnowdonia.com/wmm. A discounted early bird rate of £35 per person is limited until 31st January, or until available places sell out. Prices will rise incrementally thereafter so don’t hang around if you want to be part of it!
If you’re planning to come with a group of friends we offer a discount for groups of 10 or more – contact email@example.com for details. And if you fancy staying over then book in for our comfortable glamping accommodation from just £25 per person per night.
We reckon Waves, Mud and Mountains will be another brilliant feel-good community event and the perfect way to kick of our 2018 surf season. Spectator entry to the event will be free. We hope to see you there.
