05 Aug Electric Wave Festival
What. A. Weekend! Electric Wave festival was nothing short of epic! The two-day spectacular saw over 2,000 punters in attendance with show stopping performances from a whole host of acts.
Kickstarting the weekend was our ‘Batteries Not Included’ (link) family rave. Glow sticks and bouncy castles galore this was an energic start to the weekend to say the least!
Saturday saw headliners Black Grape take the main academy stage. The group haven’t played in North Wales since Festival No6 back in 2015 and oh did they take the stage! Supported by the Dub Pistols, Steve Craddock and The Winachi Tribe, the main stage brought a slice of Manchester music to Dolgarrog.
Sunday played host to local legends Storyville Mob, Cast front man John Power and some true Brit Rock legends in From The Jam. It certainly was a ‘Happy Sunday’ as the crowds played bingo with Bez and Shaun Ryder took the hot seat for a revealing question and answer session.
Our tipi boomed all weekend too as funk, disco, reggae and local DJs took over for a massive lagoon side party. We were lucky enough to have ‘Future Funk’ celebrating their 20-year birthday with us with special headliner Danny Rampling. The weekend also saw talent from Hollie Profit, Toby O’Connor, Jamie Trippier and Distek. There was a flying classic set from Bez to round off the weekend.
New for our 2018 event was our Northern Soul Arena. The tent bounced with Motown, soul and Northern Soul classics from start to finish. Hosted by Johnny Roberts the foot tapping, hip swinging, soul shaking vibes were second to none!
Magic Garden made sure our younger guests had a brilliant weekend too. The kids’ tipi was jam-packed all weekend with animal yoga classes, hooper heroes, crafts, stories, puppets and heaps more. Coca-Cola was on hand for tastings and Brooklyn Brewery hosted tasting and meet the brewer sessions. We’re very grateful to all our partners for being part of our festival and for all the smiles created over the weekend.
Our camping village just down the road in Tal y Bont, hosted some 200 campers settling into life in the valley for the weekend. As well as VIP glamping and campervans filling up our site. The atmosphere was awesome.
Hardly dampened with the bad weather at all we though the weekend was an excellent showcase of North Wales talent and we thank you all for being a part of it!
